MEET THE PASTORS

Pastor Joel Gaertner

In 2001 Pastor Joel Gaertner came to Faith from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma, WI where he had served for five years. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1990 and was assigned to begin a mission congregation (Amazing Grace Lutheran Church) in Florence, Kentucky. He helped that congregation become self-supporting and build their first chapel during his six years there.

As part of the ministry team at Faith, Pastor Gaertner shares in the regular preaching, teaching and counseling. Pastor Gaertner has a great interest and desire in working with the youth of our congregation. He works closely with the staff and board of our Lutheran elementary school as well as conducting a college Bible study once a month. To that end, he also serves as a member of the WELS Northern Wisconsin District Commission on Youth Discipleship.

Pastor Gaertner and his family (wife, LuAnn and children Elizabeth and Philip) are great sports enthusiasts. Their family can often be seen at WLA sports activities as well as enjoying other sporting events. Pastor Gaertner enjoys helping with coaching responsibilities at Faith as well as coaching his children's teams. He tries to sneak in an occasional round of golf as well. The Gaertner family also enjoys camping and biking together.

Pastor David Haugly

In 1989 Pastor David Haugly was assigned to serve as pastor at Faith Lutheran Church. This was the first time the Faith Congregation ever had two pastors. Sharing many of the pastoral duties of preaching, teaching and counseling with his partner, Pastor Haugly also serves in the areas of worship planning, adult spiritual growth, and the Board of Elders. He also serves on the Northern Wisconsin District's Worship Committee and as the Chairman of the Winnebago Lutheran Academy association.

Lovers of the outdoors, Pastor Haugly and his family (wife, Sheri and children Michael, Sarah, Daniel and Rachel) enjoy summer-time camping and every kind of water activity from fishing to water skiing.
